A la Carte Classes

This is a sampling of the classes and activities that will be offered at Someday School. Classes are scheduled to begin the week of September 9.  More classes will be offered as time goes on, so please check back here frequently.  Full and part time students will have access to these classes, but homeschoolers and unschoolers may enroll on a class by class basis.

Mail Monday

Mondays, 12:45 - 1:30

Each week, as a group, we will choose someone to write a letter to.  We will learn about different formats of letters, and about asking questions using who, what, when, where, why and how. We will mail our letters, and see how many responses we get! As the class progresses, students will begin writing their own individual letters as well.

Phonics And Movement

Tuesdays/Thursdays  9:30 am to 10:15 am

Children will become familiar with the phonetic sounds associated with letters of the alphabet. This class follows the Jolly Phonics letter introduction order. Children learn a story and motion to go with each sound. Learning is reinforced with fun activities such as movement games, music, and crafts.

Goal Setting For Homeschoolers and Unschoolers

Tuesdays, 10:45 am to 11:30  am

This class is particularly for those students who are not with us all week long. We will learn how to set our own goals  and how to keep track of our progress. We will meet weekly so that class members can share their progress or display what they've accomplished.

World Travelers

Tuesdays  12:45 to 1:30

Each week we will "travel" to a different country. We will learn about the country through music, games, stories, crafts, and more.

Math Book Club

Wednesdays, 10:45 - 11:30

This class is great for children who love hearing stories and doing relasted activities, but haven't been as interested in math. Each week we will read a story with a mathematical theme, and then do a related activity such as a game or project.

Creative Writing

Wednesdays, 12:45 - 1:30

We will focus on expressing ourselves through writing. This class is appropriate for any level of writer, including those who can only dictate their stories to an adult.

Sensory Station

Thursdays, 10:45 - 11:30

Children who love sensory activities such as playing in sand, using playdough, and making slime, will love Sensory Station! Each week we will have a variety of sensory activities for children to play with. This is an unstructured class in which children are free to explore at their own pace and in their own ways. Parents are welcome to stay and explore with their children.
